Torn Tales Review

What happens when you take fairytale characters and place them in a hack and slash rpg?

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

In Torn Tales you take control of 3 characters, Robin Hood, Snow White and Jeckyl and Hyde. They've all come from fairy tale lands and need to return to their home world.

8/10 intriguing story

Gameplay

The game has no bugs that I'm aware of and that's impressive since the game is only in beta. The combat system seems basic and has no combo moves but does have special abilities that are fun to use.

They have a levelling system which comes with a set of skill trees for each character meaning there are endless builds you can try out.

7/10 good levelling system but basic combat

Other Features

Torn Tales reminds me of Diablo with its loot system. Each character has their own inventory where you can manage weapons and other items.

Also it has music which can become repetitive and the sound effects can sometimes be annoying.

6/10 repetitive music

Overall

8/10

= 21/30

Personally it's a game that appeals to me but if your looking for a game like GTA then this is the wrong game.

Pixel-Warfare: Pro Review

You know them Minecraft style fps shooters on the app store?

They've made it to PC.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

Pixel warfare takes place in what seems like Minecraft and focuses around shooting each other in the head.

5/10 There is none

Gameplay

The game has 3 modes, zombies vs humans, deathmatch and team deathmatch.

The controls have no issues however, the guns in the game do. Sniper rifles are probably the best weapon in the game and the only way to win is sit in a window and snipe (as seen above) which granted me 14 kills without dying.

They've has obviously used assets from Minecraft and even the sounds have been copied.

4/10 Variety of choice but balancing issues ruin the game

Other Features

The game isn't bad but it lacks any direction. For example there are no characters (just stats) and there's a map editor but no workshop.

7/10 It's an okay game

Overall

5/10
4/10
7/10

= 16/30 A standard FPS which needs to be tweaked.

Conga Master Review

Recently I've been sent alot of 'junk games' but every once in a while I get a game that is enjoyable.

I'm not saying the games I review aren't good but sometimes they can be confusing and buggy.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

You select a character (from a surprisingly long list but some of them are locked) to become the 'conga master'. Each character has strengths and weaknesses. Each round you gather as many of the dancers as you can and avoid the UFO. Pretty unique right?

9/10 weird but wonderful story

Gameplay

In order to collect dancers you need to conga near them for a certain amount of time. Once you have captured them you get a momentum boost however if you bump into them or haven't captured them for a long time then your momentum goes down.

The controls are suited for an Xbox 360 controller but if you do a little tweaking the conga will be easy to control.

10/10 Unique idea and nice controls

Other Features

The game has 2 choices. Endless or story. I have tried both and personally endless is my favorite

7/10 not many features but some

Overall

9/10
10/10
7/10

= 26/30 A game worth its asking price. Truly unique and one i'll be keeping for a long time.

Weekly Roundup #8

This week has been interesting, to say the least.

First up 2K have finally revealed the Civilization VI system requirements, as seen below.

Lastly is the news of an update to Final Fantasy 14 Online. This update brings new apartments, hairstyles and new dungeons.

Tribe Of Pok Review

Not many civilization clones exist in the world, but I've found one.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

You are in control of a tribe. In order to survive you must hunt, gather and craft in order to help your settlers thrive.

8/10 Basic Story

Gameplay

In all fairness, the game runs pretty well. The keys are accurate however the ui is confusing at first.

I don't normally care about graphics in video games but this one is an exception. Stick-men that are supposedly characters make it look like a cartoon you drew at school and I know how hard it is to make video game art but at least use royalty free assets.

7/10 Controls are good but art lets it down

Other Features

Hunting and strategical elements make the game more approachable to RTS fans but not the casual gamer. Personally it made me want to play civ 5.

5/10 Not for an average gamer

Overall

8/10
7/10
5/10

= 20/30 Not a bad game but only appeals to a certain audience

My Top 5 Games

I am very picky when it comes to choosing games to purchase. I look for products that have replayability and open world gameplay. Here's my top list of games I personally like.

5. The Binding Of Isaac

The Binding Of Isaac is different. It takes the rouge-like elements of RPG games and uses a witty plot to create an experience most people are bound to enjoy.

4. Fallout 4

The Fallout franchise has become renowned for its open world action RPG elements it has become known as today. The fourth installment brings mods into the real game and makes them better.

3. Just Cause 2

With over 190 hours invested into the game I have one conclusion, Just cause 2 is awesome. With James Bond-like explosions and enough settlements to keep you liberating for a year, Just Cause 2 is the ultimate title for action fans.

2. No Man's Sky

Often referred to as No Man's Lie, NMS is possibly one of the biggest gaming controversies to ever hit the web.

Every Borderlands Game Ever.

I could write a 12-page essay on why Borderlands is the best shooter to exist but I'll save that for another time. If you've never played Borderlands then now is the chance to do so.

Did you agree with our list? Is there something we missed? Let us know in the comments below.

Pixelman Review

When was the last time you played a superhero game? Perhaps the telltale games batman series? Pixelman takes superhero to the next level.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

The premise of the game is to dodge obstacles and save kidnapped females (don't ask). Not really much of a story but at least it gives a reason for the game to exist.

5/10 Gives the game a reason to exist.

Gameplay

First off I have to say the controls need to be rethought. Controlling the character is like trying to play an fps while drunk. The game has different scenery which makes it fresh and usually has bosses deep into the round.

7/10 bad controls but good gameplay

Other Features

The choice of pixel man and pixel girl gives the game variety (and shuts the feminists up) and different levels which are endless are just some of the features in the game.

8/10 different levels make the game fun.

Overall

5/10
7/10
8/10

= 20/30 a good game but the controls drag it down.

Weekly Roundup #7

This week has been an interesting one for releases. We have had Paladins bringing steam players into their community and NBA 2K17 gearing up for its release.

First up we have Paladins, the free to play FPS from Hi-Rez. It released on Steam, which gave it the reputation of the Overwatch clone, and it's not half bad.

Next is the pre load of NBA 2K17. If you have preordered NBA 2K16 then you officially pre load.

A Quick Look At Paladins: The Game That Made Me Fall In Love With The FPS Genre Again

Recently I've been browsing steam for some new free to play titles. That is when I found Paladins, the latest from Hi-Rez studios, the masters behind Smite.

I booted up the game and after reading the reviews on Steam I was expecting an Overwatch Clone but what I actually got was much better.

There are many points that separate the 2 games apart. For example, Paladins is set in a fantasy world and it has cards you can equip.

Another difference is that you can ride horses into battle as most players don't want to trek all the way across the map only to find that the game has finished by the time you get there. This makes the game more fast paced and helps stop it from lasting over 30 minutes.

Of course, the game is still in Beta and has a heap of bugs. Yesterday I encountered connectivity issues and my progress level resetting but this can be expected in an early access. This game has potential and when I reach 50 hours in it I will be sure to write a review.

Ballistic Tanks Review

I'm back with yet another review.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

The main aim of the game is to destroy as many tanks as possible. This can be done either alone or with a friend.

4/10 No story and plain gameplay.

Gameplay

The gameplay. Well, first off the tanks have the worst handling I have ever seen in a video game. You die quickly, even if you dodged the bullet and to top it off, you can't take a screenshot.

2/10 BROKEN

Other Features

None.

0/10 Are they joking?

The Crew Is Free On PC And It's Yours To Keep

Ubisoft has been celebrating its 30th birthday since August and every week they are giving out a free game every month. So far the games include the likes of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Prince Of Persia and Rayman but this month has been the best yet.

The Crew.

The Crew is an open world racing sim developed by Ubisoft and was released way back in 2014. If you own a PC and Uplay you can head on over to the store page to download and keep The Crew. The game is still receiving support from Ubisoft 2 years on with the recent calling all units DLC.

Aim Hero Review

The list of games waiting to be reviewed is getting bigger every day. Some games can not be reviewed due to bugs (cough cough Looterkings) but most I can. I recently got 2 keys, F1 2016 and Aim Hero, which is the game that got picked to get reviewed today.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

Well, this is a game/software to help you 'improve' your aim in fps games like CS GO or Overwatch. depending on how you look at it, this could be either handy or useless.

8/10 no story but doesn't matter

Gameplay

The game does exactly what it says on the tin. It gives you various choices on how to hit the target. Penta and reflexes are just two of the 8 you can try your luck out. In the options, you can change the sensitivity or the crosshair style (Overwatch or CS GO). this can help you if you're familiar with the crosshairs from various games.

10/10 Delivers exactly what it offers

Other Features

The game doesn't have any 'other features' (apart from the crosshair changer. There is a map interference which suggests a workshop could be implemented in the feature.

4/10 No extra features

Overall

8/10
10/10
4/10

= 22/30

A tool to help you improve your fps skills.

Weekly Roundup #6

I've been away for the whole weekend but I managed to fit in the weekly roundup.

First up we have news about Super Mario Run. This ios game from
Nintendo was announced at the iphone 7 launch and has been on gamers mind ever since.  Is it good? Will it have a level editor? We will find out later on this year.

Speaking of Nintendo and mobile games, They are also releasing 2 mobile games this year. Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem. I think we could be seeing a ds and iphone hybrid this time next year.

And that's it for the news! Not much happening but next week will hopefully be more interesting.

3 Games That Were Different

Sometimes games seem to be repetitive. For example, some people would argue most fps games are like Call Of Duty and sometimes we want a change in games. Here's our list of the top 3 games that were different.

3. Borderlands

In 2009, Gearbox launched Borderlands, a game where you loot and shoot. Unlike other fps games it contained over 7 million guns (making it the video game with the most guns) and elements of an RPG (skill tree, classes etc.).

2. No Man's Sky

Yes, there were games before like Elite and Freelancer but no sci-fi game has attempted to create a universe with 18 quintillion planets. Also not to mention procedural ships, creatures, plants, planets, trade systems, caves, oceans and more. Basically, if you want to explore this is the game for you.

1. Viscera Cleanup Detail

When you're playing a game your usually the one making a mess, killing enemies, blowing limbs off etc etc but in Viscera Cleanup Detail you are the janitor, cleaning up the mess the heroes made. Your job is to clean up an area where the hero has engaged in a fight. The game has loads of maps to choose from (and a steam workshop) and has 3 dlc's. 2 of them are free and the other is £1.99.

That was our list of the top 3 games that are different. Did we miss a game? Let us know in the comments down below.

Loot Hero DX Review

More and more keys are coming through and with a second writer joining our team we might be able to publish reviews more often. But here's Loot Hero DX, the game where you hold down left click to play the game.

Just like my other Reviews I'll be splitting this up into 3 categories:

Story

Gameplay

Other Features

Story

A dragon has started burning towns across the land and the people are in need of a hero. You must fight through waves of enemies until you can't hold down the left click button any longer. The story doesn't affect the gameplay at all and for that, it loses marks.

4/10 sometimes you wonder why you're playing the game.

Gameplay

The gameplay, where do I start...

Let's start with the fighting mechanics. The only control you will use in the game is the left-click button on the mouse, no joke. The games levelling system has no value, the games bestiary serves no purpose (apart from telling you how many enemies were killed) and the game can be easily completed under an hour.

And this is an RPG.

3/10 Poor mechanics

Other Features

The game has repetitive stages and the same enemies over and over. The music is actually quite good (but repetitive) and whenever you level up it sounds like the end of every tv ad made by EE.

But the achievements are easy to acquire, which is a plus

2/10 No extra features.

Overall

4/10
3/10
2/10

= 9/30 A poorly made 'RPG'

Why No Man's Sky Hasn't Failed Just Yet

No Man's Sky has had one of the most complicated video game launches in history and many fans have refunded their hard earned £39.99 for other games but after spending 38 hours in the game I can say No Man's Sky can be fixed, people just need to give it time.

I was one of the small amount of players having an issue where the game would crash when the logo shows up. I managed to find a fix for this but unfortunately Intel graphic card users couldn't play the game, and that's how it's going to stay in the near future.

No Man's Sky doesn't have a friendly community either. Call Of Duty fans, hackers and Xbox users all took to the forums and turned it into a war zone. It's even got to the point where a Redditor threatened a moderator and his family.

If we give the game time then Hello Games can fix it and hopefully make it what gamers want it to be.

Gearbox Fans Are In For A Treat Tomorrow

Pax has been running since Wednesday and so far fans have enjoyed how developers create procedural games and how to craft their own controller but tomorrow fans of games such as Borderlands and Homeworld are going to be very happy bunnies.

Randy Pitchford tweeted on twitter this statement:

Want the latest on Borderland, Duke Nukem, Homeworld & Battleborn? Me and the gang are live Friday at the Gearbox Main Theater show at PAX!

Personally, I'm excited for the latest news on Borderlands (possibly borderlands 3).

What are you excited for? Let us know in the comments.

A Message About CPGN

Hello! It's been a while, hasn't it? Apparently, I still get 200-300 views a month which is incredible considering this blog is slow...
