How the Atlas Rises Update Saved No Man's Sky

It's been six days since the 1.3 Atlas Rises update was dropped for No Man's Sky. The update brought much-needed features like procedural quests, 30 more hours of story and even a very basic multiplayer. Sean and his team have obviously been working hard and it's paid off with nearly 20,000 players playing at over the past week.

The Build Up

If you've been poking around the No Man's Sky subreddit then you'll know that dedicated fans have been busy decoding messages known as the Walking Titan. This eventually lead to the discovery of an update coming out in August which leads us to Atlas Rises. As we know Hello Games are usually quiet when working on updates thus this was an interesting way to interact with fans.


Quests

One of the biggest complaints about this game was there was nothing to do but in 1.3 Hello games added procedural quests. In every space station there is a now a room that has a quest board where you can take anything from locating a missing person to eliminating an animal species. This is fun but can get wearing after a while as there are only seven types of missions to choose from.

They have also added 30 hours of story content. The Artemis story takes you across the universe looking for an interloper just like you. I won't spoil any of the story but I must say they've done a good job on this one.


Multiplayer?

Another welcoming feature is multiplayer(ish). The game now allows you to see other players in the form of a blue orb and voice chat with them but you can't interact in them in any other way than making a way point commemorating that you met. This is an upgrade from just being able to leave messages and a step in the right direction for full fledged multiplayer. Hello Games says that it's "an important step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man's Sky".

Conclusion

While No Man's Sky is far from perfect nobody can deny that it's getting better every update (although the glitches in the recent one are noticeable). While it's improved I still wouldn't recommend it for the asking price of £39.99 but it recently was on sale to celebrate the update.

No Man's Sky Walking Titan, Dying Light getting 1 year worth of free DLCs and Borderlands 3.

The No Man's Sky Reddit has been busy deciphering codes from the devs in the past few weeks. 

The supposed Walking Titan update has been slowly teased and has even got its alternate reality game. The update is expected to be 'groundbreaking' and has an August release date.

The Dying Light devs have announced that the game will be getting 10 free DLCs over the next year. The producer Tymon Smektala talks about the continuous player base of 500,000 people and announced not only DLC but more events are on the way.

Lastly Randy Pitchford has spoken about how Borderlands 3 is going to feel more like Borderlands 1 in terms of tone. The Gearbox CEO announced on twitter that the highly anticipated installment will feel more like Borderlands 1 rather than 2.

Borderlands 3 has been down a rocky road in the past few months as both Mikey Neumann and David Eddings have left the company. Fans patiently wait for the latest in the franchise.

Steam Summer Sale continues, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and the GTA V Independence Day update.

The Steam Summer Sale has been emptying wallets all week and has some great deals. As it comes to its final days now is the best time to buy them all important games that you have had your eye on and luckily we have selected 3 games that might interest you. 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now being sold separately for the price of £34.99. The remastered edition (previously only available through buying the legacy edition of COD: Infinitive Warfare) was released as a standalone on Friday and since has gathered mostly negative reviews. One user called it a great remaster but tarnished by the greed of Activision.

GTA V also got its Independence update on Friday which brings a new adversary mode called Dawn Raid and a new premium car called the Vagner. the update also includes things like American-themed decals for your mobile operations center.

The updates' discounts and events last through to 10th July.

Jeremy Corbyn Arrives at Glastonbury

Far-left Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn arrived at Glastonbury this afternoon to a warm welcome.

Jeremy Corbyn has won over the young voters after fighting a hard campaign to Theresa May. Although he was not appointed Prime Minister he is still considered to be the winner of the General Election as he managed to make the British public regain confidence in the Labour party.

The Conservative Party on the other hand has lost a lot of ground to Corbyn. We'll keep you up to date on everything politics and video games.

Although the recent controversy has damaged the games reputation Grand Theft Auto V still stands to be the fastest selling entertainment product to this day as it made $1,000,000,000 in the first three days. It's price currently sits at £19.99 whereas it is usually £39.99.

Back in the early 2000s Valve was at the height of their life. E3 2017 Roundup

E3 took place this week and a lot of new games were shown off and announced. Here's a quick look at the highlights:

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is an open world pirate adventure. I dismissed it until a few days ago when they showed off a demo of the game and it prompted me to pre order it however the price tag is a bit much for a new IP. Sea of Thieves is coming out in early 2018 for Xbox and Windows 10.

Anthem

What's this? A new sci fi shooter from Bioware? It's been described as The Division meets Mass Effect and to be honest it looks pretty great. Anthem releases in late 2018 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Assassin's Creed Origins

Ubisoft gave out a lot of info for their new AC game. After taking a break for a year on the franchise they return with a new adventure that takes players to Egypt. Assassin's Creed Origins releases on 27th October on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

So that was three games that were shown at E3. Part 2 of this article will drop tomorrow.

Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar gets a Teaser Trailer

The E3 conference weekend kicked off today with EA revealing some new games. Among the new teasers were one for a Battlefield 1 teaser for the new In the Name of the Tsar expansion.

The new expansion lets players fight on the Eastern Front as the women's battalion of death. Alongside this EA have given players more info on games like Fifa 18, Star Wars battlefront 2 and Titanfall 2.
