While we've been keeping watch on all the news happening this week (more on that tomorrow) but here's my view on Counter Strike: Condition Zero.
Gone are the days when I spent summers as a kid playing Counter Strike 1.6. I was pro against bots and I only ever played on de_nuke, I still have dreams of that map. Nearly a decade later CS 1.6 and Condition Zero are bundled together for £3 on sale and since I wasn't saving up I bought it.
So first off it's an FPS but not the kind for causal players but that doesn't mean it's not fun. It really outlines the highlights of the Counter Strike series and was a revolutionary mod at the time. It has a simple yet effective system. You have your guns categorized ranging from tasers to rifles and the game play is simple, you shoot the enemies but like every CS game one shot could win or lose the game.
One thing I was surprised to see was the variety of game modes. Not only do you have team death match but you also have hostage scenarios and death match. This is surprising for a mod/game that was created in 2004. The multiplayer hosts these servers and even today the game is in the top 100 played games on Steam list!
Overall CS:CZ for anyone looking for a challenging experience. Oh and one thing I prefer in CS:CZ is the fact you can download CS:GO skins and use them as if you were playing CS:GO! It makes you think how much Valve is ripping people off with the skin system.
Pros:
Great FPS game
Has some clever AI
Lots of game modes
Multiplayer
Cons:
A bit too basic
Not for casual FPS veterans.
I'm going to place this game on the good list for its cult classic status.
