Earlier today Gabe Newell announced the auction of Steam. Hideo Kojima then responded a few hours later by buying the company at the asking price.
Valve faced closure before mr Kojima bought Valve. This means his company has merged to become Metal Valve productions. Every game made by Valve including the Half Life and CS series are now owned by the new company. Hide Kojima published a statement:
"As a gamer I know how much Steam meant to people. I am pleased to keep it running for the foreseeable future. I will work on the franchises that have redefined video games."
The games in question are the unfinished projects. Kojima said he would be adding 'distraction devices' into CSGO. This means you could duplicate yourself to trick the enemy. As for the sacred Half Life 3 he has teased that he will continue working on the singleplayer experiences that Gabe Newell told us about in a recent AMA on Reddit. One of these may be Half Life 3.
It will be interesting to see what will happen to Metal Valve and Steam in the nearby future and we wish Hideo Kojima the best of luck.
