Valve is closing its doors, Steam up for auction

Today the Valve CEO Gabe Newell made a press statement about Steam. He announced that Valve software was to close due to financial issues. He told IGN about the closure, "Steam has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons and we have decided to auction off the software to avoid bankruptcy."

He continued.

"Steam has been our main IP (along with the counter strike series) for years and it will be a tragedy to gamers. We have been dissembling Steam in the past year. Greenlight was our latest but did you ever wonder what happened to the cyber cafe program? We didn't have the funding so it got axed. Games have been getting bad reviews in the recent years meaning less profit. If it wasn't for CSGO we would have shut down last year."

It is believed 5,000 jobs will be lost unless someone can buy Steam for the asking price of 75 million. We will keep you up to date on the latest,
